Ensure you stay compliant with UK employment law

Employment law states that every business must be able to prove that their employees have the right to work in the UK. From October 2011, the Agency Workers Regulations provides temporary workers with equal treatment in terms of working conditions as directly employed staff.

  • Record and store all required forms: work permits, right to work forms, Criminal Record Bureau and Independent Safeguarding Authority checks. Employers can be jailed or face unlimited fines if they are found to be knowingly employing someone without a valid work permit. Sage 50 HR allows for all of this information to be easily stored and attached to each employee record.
  • Generate written statements of employment: these must be given to your staff within 2 months of starting with your company. This is often thought to be only for full time employees. This is not the case. All employees, regardless of hours worked, must have a written statement of employment. These can be produced automatically within Sage 50 HR.
  • Never miss a renewal date: set up reminders within Sage 50 HR so that when CRB or ISA checks are due for renewal (usually every three years for ISA) you will not be caught unaware.
