Client Software
No installation is required on your PC or laptop for core Sage CRM Cloud functions,
as the web browser is usually pre-installed. Some features of your Sage CRM Cloud account,
such as Mail Merge, Reporting, and Outlook Integration will require the installation
of plugins and external applications. These are outlined in the next section.
The following Web browser is supported:
Microsoft Internet Explorer (6.0, 7.0 and 8.0).
Note: If you experience performance issues with IE, it may be due to the number
of HTTP connections open at any one time. To prevent this issue affecting CRM performance,
it is recommended that CRM is opened in its own browser window.
Files and Applications you may need on the Client
Mail Merge Plugin
To use the mail merge functionality: The first time a user encounters one of the
features requiring the plugin (for example, the My CRM | Calendar page displaying
the Document Drop icon), they are prompted to download a plugin. Instructions are
provided on-screen and you must be an administrator or power user of your machine
to install the Mail Merge Plugin. Your browser must also be configured to accept
plugins. Contact your System Administrator if you do not have these rights.
Note: If you experience errors while using IE 7 in combination with the Skype plugin,
Mastermind, it is recommended that you temporarily disable the Mastermind plugin,or
upgrade Skype to the latest version.More information can be found on Skype's web
site.
Adobe Reader
Reports generated by your Sage CRM Cloud account are produced as a PDF. To view these
reports Adobe Reader must be installed on the client machine. The Adobe Reader can
be downloaded from www.adobe.com.
Outlook Plugin
To install the Sage CRM Cloud Outlook Integration, users download the Outlook Plugin
from within Sage CRM Cloud in the My CRM | Preferences tab. You must be an administrator
or power user of your machine to install the Outlook Plugin. Contact your System
Administrator if you do not have these rights.
The Outlook Plugin requires XML Parser and the .NET Framework to be on the client.
These are checked for during the install process and installed if not present.
Note: Users are required to have either Outlook 2003 or Outlook 2007 to use the
CRM Outlook Integration. Sage CRM Outlook client integration is supported for e-mail
accounts running on Microsoft Exchange Server MAPI or POP3.
Microsoft Office Applications
Sage CRM Cloud users who wish to use the mail merge and document merge features supported
by Sage CRM Cloud should have Microsoft Office Word 2003 or 2007 installed on their
machines.
Recommendations for Client Hardware
As the application uses a web browser, the client hardware specification is determined
by the minimum web browser requirements for the client operating system.
Recommendations for Offline Sychronization
Recommendations for Solo Clients. A Core 2 Duo (or comparable) processor with at
least 1 GB of RAM is required. 65 MB of disk space is required for the Client installation.
The disk space required for the Client’s filtered data will vary depending
on your offline profile.
Access for Mobile Users
Mobile users have a choice of how to access the system:
Your Sage CRM Cloud account can be accessed from anywhere in the world through a standard
broadband internet connection. Sage CRM Cloud only delivers HTML and JavaScript to
the user's web browser so it is ideally suited to this type of usage.
Sage CRM Cloud offers an offline synchronization solution called Solo. Once a Solo
license is purchased, a Sage CRM Cloud user can download their Sage CRM Cloud database,
work offline, and synchronize with their Sage CRM Cloud account via a standard broadband
internet connection. Typical data synchronization time for an offline user is two
or three minutes, dependant on connection type, number of updates made to the offline
solo database and the users Sage CRM Cloud account, and amount of data to be transferred.
Your Sage CRM Cloud account can also be accessed through a mobile device such as an
iPhone or Blackberry.
Either option has security implications, which can be overcome via firewall software,
ensuring the integrity of data at all times and by encrypting all data transferred.
